While sitting in the offices of Fotango last week, I was submitted to a week long hocking and coughing of people who didn’t realise they were ill. As the newbie intern in the corner of the room, I silently prayed that the mysterious germs would pass me by. Alas, I woke up Saturday morning and realised they’d finally got a hold on me. So today, I am home, eating chocolate cake with cream and watching ‘In her Shoes’.
On other news, my brother has returned from a 3 day venture all about investments attended with my sister. “That sounds kinda interesting,” I said to my sister.
“But you didn’t even want to go!” my sister exclaimed.
“That is true,” I replied, “but only because I fear the possibility of boredom, however I will not miss such opportunities of learning, and will offer you money and you can invest for me and keep a percentage.”
I love business opportunities.
I remember as a young 6 year old my mum tried to entice me to continue piano lessons with two very cute Pekinese puppy toys, as long as I practised and did the learning, they would be mine. The two toys were put in a wardrobe shelf so high, I couldn’t reach them even standing on a chair. And as I didn’t know how long it was till I would get them (or whether I would even get them), and being very impatient, I negotiated a deal with my sister, get the toys down and you get to keep one, 50% share on two toys seemed fair to me, at least I got one cute toy instead of none.
It’s been relatively relaxing today after the three weeks of hectic rushing around. Today, we went out and bought a breadmaker, ironing board and iron.
The breadmaker by Russell Hobbs, sadly it’s called “Breadman Compact” and unfortunately the first bread that came out lived up to the name, heavy and compact. However, that could be because somebody (not author) skimmed the instructions and didn’t realise the order of putting in the ingredients was important. No matter, I will try again tomorrow and see what comes out. Apparently, it makes pasta, jam, cakes, french bread and brioche, so I’m quite excited.
The ironing board, an el-cheapo £8.99 one that weighs very little compared to the one my sister ran away with, now that one was bought in the late 70s, had brown orange flowery cotton cover and made with heavy chip board combined with industrial strength steel, the weight was a killer.
The iron – a Tefal Superglide 80, is quite good to use, in fact I think it’s better than the one my sister ran away with (along with the ironing board). It really does glide over fabric, the creases are removed a lot faster than normal, and best of all it makes me look like I know what I’m doing.
After several days of silence and still no cease fire. What did I do wrong? What have I said to warrant the silent treatment? Why? Why? I opened the lid and shouted: “HALLOOOooOOOoOOO?!?!?!” … the silence continued, I don’t think anybody’s home.
