I awoke this morning at 5am feeling particularly thirsty, I got up and went in search of water. While in the kitchen, I was compelled by the bright orange street lamps to look outside.
Snow! The stuff was everywhere, not in great amounts, but enough to make a relatively worthy-ish snowman with. This got me so excited that while I lay in bed I was thinking: “Hmmm… maybe the roads will be blocked, public transport will be shot for sure.” But then I realised that my bus route had two night buses running regularly, and they would have kept the snow at bay. *Sighs*
No playing in the snow for me
I am standing in your atypical London bus shelter, the wind is blowing quite fiercely and I’m buttoned up from the top of my neck down to my toes. I’m wearing gloves, a thick scarf and a fleece hat that’s pulled so far down my head, the back meets my scarf and the front covers my eyebrows. The only thing visible to help identify myself is my pair of glasses sitting on top of the scarf. The fact that my scarf, hat, gloves and coat do not match, does not bother me much, I am actually wishing that I have more accessories to wrap on top!
Suddenly, a woman appears from around the corner, she is wearing a velvet low V-line coat, to match her low V-line top on the inside. She also wears strappy sandals, and she’s trying to walk against the wind. With the wind battling her tiny frame, it is obvious that this woman has little layering underneath and what she does have is made up of the most thinnest and net like materials.
I am amused at the sight and am suddenly reminded of a comment someone made some years ago: “If I die, at least I die looking good.”
“At least I would not be dead!” was my retort, but since that time, I have learnt that logic and fashion do not mix.
A Happy New Year to blog-readers around the globe. Once again there is gap in December. I guess it would be only natural that for my new years resolution (jinx) this year I will attempt to blog not on paper but on web.
